I've played this on both the PS & the PSP, needless to say, it's a classic in my book. I love the game. If you like fast moving, graphically intense, low-strategy/quick-reaction games, then you might not like this game. The story line is nothing to shake a stick at either. Do you like strategy, turn-based, highly-customizable RPGs. If so, then this game is for you. I can't get enough of the strategy, and the high customization, via the variety of job-classes and skill combinations, lends to high replay-ability.
nobody is saying what REALLY needs to be said. and that just one sample. For instance, I always like to get Ramza the Ninja's two-swords ability before his one on one duel with Gafgarion. I sold the game after I beat chapter one after realizing getting to this point would require hours, and hours of training while my eyeballs slowly fell out of my skull after staring down at that tiny little screen for so long. The game can be quite time consuming in this one aspect, albeit, but it was quite fun and very satisfying (not a word I use often) to see the pay off in characters that could dish out the damage and hold their own in tough situations. Now they require 1500.
this experience.Take for instance the Lancer's jump abilities. In this way he can use sword break two times in one turn and turn Gafgarion's game completely on it's head. There is Oh, so much Square enix (or Squenix {old Playstaion magazie saying}) could have done to make this better. Wander around, enter a battle, ingnore the monsters and start doing all the thing us veterans do to gain JP like the Squire's Accumulate, only however much time you spend leveling your characters in the PSONE version, times that by 2.5 and you have a rough estimate of how much you'll playing (and feeling like a nerd with no life).I am terribly dissapointed with this game. Giving access to jobs only the bosses had, such as Arc Knight, Sorcorer, Assassin, and many others. The demand for more JP utterly KILLS. Of all the negative reviews out there bashing the games flaws(the lag on spells, the useless new job classess, etc).
And that is as follows.Squenix ruined this game when they increased the amount of JP necessary to gain skills and go up joblevels. For anybody who played the original we all known how hard the game could be and how very necessary it was to spend a good portion of your time developing and training your characters. The level 8 jumps only required 900JP to master. Shame on them. Elmdor's Teleport 2 ability, better weapons, better jobs, more missions. All of this, FOREVER out of reach it seems because the sadists at Squenix saw fit to give us this inferior remake. I know there are plenty of negative reviews out there already but as this will be the only one star rating I'm hoping I can get this message out quickly, because I'm already sore at not having done this sooner. For anybody who has played the original Final Fantasy Tactics on the PSONE loved it (seriously loved it) I implore you, do not buy this game. Your own A-team, so to speak. With the PSP version of the game, however, it probably would have taken far too much time to develop Ramza that far.
This won't be finished in one-day's sitting.-A long storyline with mini-questCon's-Camera angle.-Not all characters can use "potion" to heal, they must obtain this as a skill which can be annoying if your healer is way off and your units are being attacked to death.-Advancing to other areas can mean stronger monsters. A great buy for anyone interested in a RPG that will last for more than a month. Final Fantasy tactics is a beautiful tactical game for the psp.Pro's-Beautiful rendered cut-scenes with a different "story-book style"-The voice-acting fits the characters.-Battles call for strategy-Game-play can be hours long. Be careful not to venture off too quickly without the proper levels and gear.I have yet to complete this game, but so far it is good.
Faith, on the other hand, deals with how strong of a spell caster (white mage, black mage, time mage, etc). I got half way through the game and had to start from scratch because my characters were just too weak to defeat anymore bosses. Bravery deals with the physical attack strength and defense of a character. I wish I could give it 4 1/2 stars.
You will have high level mages who can never hit enemies with spells because they have low faith, and high level attackers who do pitiful damage because they have low bravery. The game play definitely makes up for the sometimes confusing plot. The lack to explain what the Bravery and Faith are for is the major flaw (and probably one of the only flaws) of this game. Pretty much Bravery is how strong of a warrior (knight, ninja, monk, etc). The plot got a little thick and confusing at times but not bad. However, understanding how to build strong characters is tricky. your character can become. your character can become.
However, if you do know the importance of the Bravery and Faith of a character this game is tons of fun and well worth the buy, especially if you like role playing games or Final Fantasy. This is the first Final Fantasy Tactics I have played and I must say it was a very fun game. It is never explained to you what the "Bravery" and "Faith" of each character represents, which is vital. Faith deals with magical attack and defense of a character. If you are like me and don't know this the game is going to be very hard and frustrating.
A game you can play for the rest of your life. A great addiction to the handheld world, giving one the dream of fighting anothers team.
